University of West Alabama presents spring concerts
The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra will present "Symphonic Pops from Two Worlds" Thursday in the Bibb Graves Auditorium on the campus of the University of West Alabama.
The concert is sponsored by the Sumter County Fine Arts Council in cooperation with UWA. Admission is free to SCFAC members and UWA students. Adult admission is $7 and student admission is $2.
The University of West Alabama Concert Choir and University Singers will present a "Spring Concert" on April 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Bibb Graves Auditorium. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
Riley Hospital offers lab tests
The lab at Riley Hospital is sponsoring a day of tests to benefit Relay for Life. A trio of lab tests including blood type, glucose and cholesterol screening will be offered for $3. All money raised will be donated to the Lauderdale County Relay for Life. Stop by the hospital laboratory Wednesday from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. to be tested.

EMCC Pine Grove Festival begins Thursday
East Mississippi Community College's annual Pine Grove Festival will begin Thursday and continue through May 1. The festival celebrates fine arts with music, art exhibits, literature, theatre and guest performers and is open to the public.
The festival begins with the annual presentation of Syzygy, the college's literary magazine. The presentation will be part of the EMCC Scooba Campus Awards Day, to be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the Stennis Auditorium.
The drama class will perform "A Night of Skits and Sketches" that night at 7 p.m. in Stennis Auditorium. Admission is $1 for EMCC students, $3 for adults and free for children under 12.
A student art exhibit and sale will be held April 24 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Stennis Hall foyer.
On April 26, at 7 p.m., guest speaker Elizabeth Sarcone will present a lecture, "Myths and Fairy Tales: Not Just for Children" in the Stennis Auditorium.
On May 1, EMCC choral students will perform at 7 p.m. in Stennis Auditorium.
The Pine Grove Festival is financially assisted by the National Endowment for the Humanities through the Mississippi Humanities Council.

Friday-Saturday The Ralph Morgan Rodeo will be held at Ralph Morgan Arena in Lauderdale. Tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for children. The rodeo starts at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 679-8861.
Saturday Duffee VFD will hold its annual Spring fund-raiser at the fire department, located at the junction of Chunky-Duffee Road and Highway 494 just inside the Newton County line. MLT Spring Variety Sale set
It's that time again! The Meridian Little Theatre Guild Spring Variety Sale will be held Friday and Saturday.
Now is the time to clean out your closets, garages and attics. Please bring your tax-deductible items to the Meridian Little Theatre, Highway 39 North, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Large donations can be picked up. Items needed include clothes, shoes, jewelry, toys, linens, games, books, pictures, dishes, appliances, furniture and bric-a-brac.

Agricultural Museum to hold auction
The board of directors of the Neshoba County/Philadelphia Historical Museum will hold an auction Saturday to benefit the Agricultural Museum.
The auction will be held behind the museum at 303 Water Avenue. The museum will be open at 8 a.m. for people wishing to view the items for sale. The auction will begin at 9 a.m., and will last until all items have been sold.
The museum will be open Friday and Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. for items to be donated to the auction. Please do not bring clothes or shoes to be auctioned. Bring any household, tools or farm items in good condition.
Freedom Fund Banquet set for Saturday
The 16th annual Freedom Fund Banquet and Mother of the Year Contest is set for Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Council of Organizations Building, 814 45th Ave.

Partnership accepting grant applications
The Partnership for a Healthy Mississippi is accepting grant applications from faith-based organizations through its Community Youth Partners program.
Applications for the $2,000 grants may be obtained at the office of Partnership for a Healthy Lauderdale County, 806 Highway 19 North, Suite 385. Grantees will agree to conduct a Students Working Against Tobacco day camp during the summer and conduct monthly SWAT activities throughout the year.
The application deadline is Friday.

Kemper Academy presents Elvis show
The "Elvis Presley Show," featuring a 12-member cast with a live band and a sound and light show, will be held Saturday at 7 p.m., at Kemper Academy Gymnasium.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for students. Children under 4 will be admitted free. Tickets may be purchased at the door or at the Kemper Academy High School office.

Master Gardeners to hold Plant Sale'
East Mississippi Master Gardeners will hold a "Plant Sale" Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Farmer's Market/Train Depot on Front Street and 18th Avenue. Plants will include: Louisiana Iris, herbs, Day Lilies, Antique Roses, Hosta, ferns and many more.
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation holds walk
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's "Walk for a Cure" will be held Saturday at Bonita Lakes. Registration is at 1:30 p.m., and the walk begins at 2 p.m.
In addition to the fitness and fun, participants can earn prizes. The top fund-raiser in each designated area will win two round-trip tickets on American Airlines. For information, call Laurie Martin (800) 344-4823.
