OBITUARIES FOR TUESDAY, MARCH 13, 2001

QUITMAN Services for James G. Smith Jr. were to be held today at 10 a.m. at Wright's Funeral Home with the Revs. Roy McHenry, Gary Smith and Gerald Barnett officiating. Burial was to be in Mannassa Cemetery.
Mr. Smith, 52, of Carriere, died Saturday, March 10, 2001, at Slidell Memorial Hospital in Slidell, La. An electrical engineer by trade, he was known to friends and family as "Jamie." Preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Kemp-Smith, he is survived by wife, Victoria, and children, Jason and Wendi. Parents, James Glen and Mary; and siblings, Marsha and Danny want to thank friends and relatives for their love and support.

UNION Services for Clarence E. "Hank" Taylor will be held today at 2 p.m. at Union United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Samson officiating. Burial will be in Union City Cemetery with Milling Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Taylor, 74, of Union, died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at Laird Hospital in Union.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Taylor of Union; a daughter, Pam Weaver, a son-in-law, Marty Weaver, two grandchildren, Katy Weaver and Charlie Weaver, all of Madison, Ala.; and a sister, Dorothy Ann Mayard of Harahan, La.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Hagan, Kline Harbour, Marcus Gordon, Jimmy Wilson, Ricky Harbour and Rolf Howle.

PHILADELPHIA Services for William Rudolph "Joe" Drewery will be held today at 3:30 p.m. at High Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Bobby Waggoner and Ray Files officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with McClain-Hays Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Drewery, 71, of Union, died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at Hilltop Manor Nursing Home.
Survivors include his sister, Wilma Jack Anthony of Union.
DOROTHY BRADLEY COLLINS

Services for Dorothy Bradley Collins will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Horeb Baptist Church with the Revs. Nick Holden and Jerry Sanford officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Collins, 69, of Meridian, died Monday, March 12, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Mt. Horeb Baptist Church, the ladies prayer group and the Joy Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Bunko Girls Group.
Survivors include three daughters, Edith Boswell and her husband, Butch, and Kim Cline and her fiancee, Brent Manasco, all of Meridian, and Hope Fayard and her husband, Gary, of Spartanburg, S.C.; seven grandchildren, Shane Garrett, Carrie Bakilaar, Braxton Boswell, Tanner Cline, Adam Cline, Trace Fayard and Maddy Fayard; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruby Alexander and Hazel Pickard, both of Meridian; three brothers, James Bradley, Ed Bradley and Larry Bradley, all of Meridian; a special brother-in-law; and four special sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Collins; parents, Mae and Reuben Bradley; a grandson, Collin Fayard; and a brother, Eldon Bradley.
Pallbearers will be Butch Boswell, Gary Fayard, Brent Manasco, Carl Wiggins, Pete Bertrand and Shane Garrett.
Visitation will be today from 5:30-8 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.

PHILADELPHIA Services for James Louis Gray will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at East Philadelphia Baptist Church with the Revs. Dwight Faulkberry and Joe Pou officiating. Burial will be in Sandtown Cemetery with McClain-Hays Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gray, 56, of Philadelphia, died Sunday, March 11, 2001, in Macon.
Survivors include his daughter, Melissa Clark of Philadelphia; a son, Louis Gray of Ridgeland; a sister, Priscilla Killens of Newton; a brother, Sonny Gray of Florence, Ala.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
MURRAY ELI BARNEY
DEMOPOLIS, Ala. Graveside services for Murray Eli Barney will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Aimwell Cemetery in Sweetwater, Ala. with the Rev. Mike Dobrosky officiating. Kidd-Robbins Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Barney, 75, of Meridian, died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at Guardian Angel Hospice in Meridian. He was born September 9, 1925, in Sweetwater. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a former prisoner of war. Along with other commendations, Mr. Barney was awarded the Purple Heart (American and Vietnamese), the Good Conduct Medal, P.O.W. Medal, two Silver Stars/Clusters, two Bronze Stars/Clusters, Distinctive Service Cross, Gallantry Medal, Vietnam Pin Class I, and the Vietnam Service Medal. He was a senior paratrooper and received Search and Rescue Wings and Helicopter Wings. His rank was CWO 4/Warrent Officer 4.
Mr. Barney was later employed by the Veteran's Hospital as a computer programmer. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Mediator.
Survivors include his wife, Thursalene Barney of Meridian; two sisters, Irene Dunlap of Jackson, Tenn., and Alma Barney of Sweetwater.
JOHN ROGERS
Services for John "Bobby" Rogers will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Collinsville with the Rev. Chester Davis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rogers, 64, of Meridian, died Friday, March 9, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Rogers, two daughters, Debra Lee Moore and Angie R. Edwards, all of Meridian; seven sons, Johnny Ray Rogers of Austin, Texas, Daniel Lamar Rogers of Dallas, Timothy Rogers of San Francisco, Bobby Ridal Rogers, Ernest Rogers, Chan Rogers and Robert Rogers, all of Meridian; four sisters, Virgie Pace and Bettye Davis, both of Meridian, Minnie Davis of Little Rock and Bonnie Sims of Walnut Grove; a brother, L.C. Rogers of San Francisco; 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 7-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
