From staff reports
Feb. 25, 2001
Teresa LaBiche of LaBiche Jewelers, Meridian, has been elected president of the 110 member Mississippi Jewelers Association.
As president, she is attending the national Jewelers of America meeting to be held in Washington, D.C. which started Saturday and will run through Tuesday. All attending members will meet with their U.S. senators and congressmen.
As members of the Mississippi Association, each also becomes a member of the Jewelers of America. In 1922, the code of ethics was adopted and is still a very important very important part of doing business today.
Always rendering service based on the highest standards of truth and honor is just one statement of the code which is renewed annually.
Those stores belonging to the Mississippi Jewelers Association and the Jewelers of America can be easily identified by the "J" decal prominently displayed on their front window.
In 1999, Jewelers of America began The Jewelers Charity Fund For Children with funds divided to support the following charities: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
During that period of time, nearly $2 million have been donated. April has been designated as JCF month for members of the Jewelers of America.
