Springhill College sweeps MCC tennis teams 9-0, 9-0

The Meridian Community College men's and women's tennis teams dropped two tough matches to Spring Hill (Ala.) College Friday.
Springhill's men which were ranked in the NAIA Top 25 at the end of last season won all six singles matches, as well as the three doubles matches for a 9-0 win.
Springhill's women also won 9-0.
McPhail also noted that this is a rebuilding year for her program, which returned only one player from last year's team.
MCC travels to Northwest Community College in Muscle Shoals, Ala. next Friday before facing Millsaps next Saturday morning. The Lady Eagles will also face Belhaven Saturday afternoon.
For the men, MCC's Everett Stewart fell 6-0, 6-2; Albert Smith lost 6-1, 6-0; Curto dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision; Kevin McDonald fell 6-2, 6-0; Dustin Davidson fell 6-0, 6-1; and Brad Dearman lost, 6-1, 6-4.
In the women's contests, it was MCC's Kelly Trebisky falling in a tough one, 6-1, 7-5; MCC's Dana Vance falling 6-0, 6-2; Jill Hathorne going down, 6-0, 6-2; Meredith Vance losing 6-0, 6-0; Lauren Gavin falling 6-1, 6-1; and Jamie Kirkley dropping a 6-0, 6-0 decision.
