Church holds annual outreach event

An inflatable slide, bounce house, games, live music, food trucks and free backpacks with school supplies – all were components creating ROC the Lot Sunday in downtown Russellville.

Redemption Outreach Church hosted its annual ROC the Lot event from 5-8 p.m. in front of the church.

Each registered child who was present at the event and accompanied by a parent or guardian was eligible to receive a backpack filled with items like notebooks, pencils and paper.

“This year, we have been able to give out almost 500 backpacks with school supplies,” said Shawn Reathford, pastor. “We truly believe God has blessed us to be here in this community, to be a light and to reach out to the people that are broken and hurting.”

Redemption Worship, the worship team from the church, took the stage to provide live music. Other performers included Shannon Knight and P.J. and Bobby Winston.

Redemption Outreach Church is located at 116 Coffee Ave. SE in Russellville.
