By By Josh Taylor/The Meridian Star
Oct. 11, 2001
The Clarkdale Bulldogs will hit the road Friday when they visit Newton High School for a key Region 5-2A battle.
The Bulldogs stand at 2-4 after a 30-7 loss last week to South Leake. They are currently 0-1 in their district.
Newton is 4-2 overall and 1-0 in their district.
Clarkdale has had a few setbackss this year, losing a few players for disciplinary reasons. Also, standout running back Marcus Hood is still out with a separated shoulder .
Out of the six teams in Region 5-2A, four will go to the playoffs. A team could still go with two district losses.
The playoff picture will most likely not be decided until late in the season. The Bulldogs are not yet in a situation where they must win out in district play in order to go.
