Melissa Cason

Melissa joined the Times staff in September 2006 as a general assignment reporter. During her time with the paper, she has covered police, fire, court proceedings, education, local governments and elections in addition to frequent news features. Melissa currently covers Phil Campbell Town Council, and other breaking news events in the county. She is in charge of the weekly Lifestyle, which includes a feature story with photographs, and Food pages in addition to updating records, which include obits, community calendar events, lunch menus, land transactions, and marriages. Her column is published weekly on Wednesdays on the Lifestyle page of the paper. Melissa is a native of South Arkansas, but has found a home in North Alabama. Her education includes studies at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock and the University of Alabama. She is married to husband, Jimmy, and together the couple has three children.
