HEIDELBERG Heidelberg Academy will try to move through a tough schedule this season in defense of their MPSA Class A State Championship.
The Rebels and first-year coach Brian Jones will have to battle a solid district schedule and a tough non-district schedule to make another trip to the postseason.
According to Jones, he is working on learning his new opponents.
Heidelberg Academy will open the year at home against East Rankin. The contest should be a challenge for the Rebels to start off the 2004 campaign.
The Rebels will then hit the road to take on University Christian.
Heidelberg will then open up district play with Central Academy.
The Rebels should have their hands full in district play with a game against Sylva-Bay and a trip to rival football power Wayne Academy.
The Rebels will host Sylva-Bay in an early district matchup on Sept. 10.
After a non-district game with Leake Academy and district matchup at Newton Academy, the Rebels will travel to take on Wayne Academy on Oct. 1.
According to Jones, the Jaguars should be ready for his team but he hopes the trip to Waynesboro won't have an effect on the outcome.
The Rebels then host a tough non-district opponent in Tri-County for homecoming and host district foe Kemper Academy.
Heidelberg will close out the regular season on the road against Benton.
