    OBITUARIES FOR SUNDAY, JUNE 10, 2001

    O. RAY COMPTON
    Retired
    Services for O. Ray Compton will be held today at 2 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Owen officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Community Cemetery on Valley Road.
    Mr. Compton, 67, of Meridian, died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
    Mr. Compton was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp., was in the Korean Conflict and was a past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 79, Meridian. He was a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church and was active in many community services.
    Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Tucker Compton of Meridian; his children, Katrina Compton Brown and her husband, Grant, and Henry Ray Compton, all of Meridian, and Paul Stephen Compton of Clarke County; a daughter-in-law, Christal Compton of Meridian; two grandchildren, Amanda Raeanna "Ray Ray" Brown and Jacob Paul Compton, both of Meridian; a sister, Grace Compton Gainer of Clarke County; a brother, Curtiss McKinley Compton and his wife, Bonnie, of Gulfport; a sister-in-law, Bettye H. Compton of Meridian; his mother-in-law, Rosalie Stephens, and his father-in-law, William A. Tucker, both of Clarke County; his life-long friend, Aubrey Thomas of Meridian; and several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, William Leon and Bessie Moore Compton; a brother, William B. Compton; and a sister, Norma Compton Chatham.
    Pallbearers will be William B. Compton Jr., Robert H. Compton, David M. Compton, John G. Compton, Michael C. Compton, Curtis M. Compton Jr., Raymond Charles Compton, Wayne L. Motley, Tracy E. Motley, Larry Chatham and Roy Chatham Jr.
    The family requests memorials be made to Oak Grove Methodist Church Building Fund, 6084 Valley Road, Meridian, MS 36301.
    JOYCE ABERNATHY JONES

    Services for Joyce Abernathy Jones will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Raymon Leake officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
    Mrs. Jones, 69, of Meridian, died Friday, June 8, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Meridian.
    Survivors include her husband, Owen O. Jones; two daughters, Joy Jones Peery and her husband, William "Sonny" both of Meridian and Jan Jones and her husband, Gary Fisher of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Jana Peery Flint and her husband, Jeremy of Birmingham, Ala. and Mary Lauren Fisher of Houston, Texas and a sister, Pat Abernathy Murphree of Austin, Texas.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Hosea and Mary Abernathy and a sister, Mary A. Semmes.
    Pallbearers will be Jeremy Flint, James H. Jones, Bobby Jones, Ralph Semmes, Charles Jones, Jim Cody, Jack Jackson, Freddie Poitevent, Mike Jones and Charles Naylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of the First Baptist Church.
    The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or First Baptist Church Restoring for Tomorrow.
    Visitation will be today from 4 p.m.-8 p.m.
    CLYDE K. MCMINN
    Retired Dr. Pepper bottler
    Services for Clyde K. McMinn will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Sam Hull and Davey Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
    Mr. McMinn, 95, of Meridian, died Friday, June 8, 2001, at Benchmark Health Care Center.
    Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Evans McMinn of Meridian; a son, Eddie Bob McMinn and his wife, Sylvia, of Lauderdale; a sister, Ann Fabre; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
    The family requests memorials be sent to East End Methodist Church.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    AGNES STEVE
    Homemaker
    SEBASTOPOL Services for Agnes Steve will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Philadelphia with the Rev. David Hamm officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Milling Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Steve, 79, of St. Louis, Mo., died Saturday, June 9, 2001, in Philadelphia.
    Survivors include two daughters, Geneva Fernandez and Betty Benson, both of St. Louis; one son, Charles Steve of Des Moines, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Nancy Lou Willis, Mattie Chickaway and Allie Cook; one brother, Studie Chickaway all of Philadelphia and several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, McKinley Steve and two sons.
    WILLIAM LEO BURRAGE
    Retired ICG Railroad conductor
    Services for William Leo Burrage will be held Monday at 11:30 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Thad Moore and the Rev. Thomas Broadhead officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
    Mr. Burrage, 73, of Meridian, died Friday, June 8, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. He was a member of Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church, a former Shriner and Mason.
    Survivors include his wife, Martha Jean McBrayer Burrage; two daughters, Donna Burrage, both of Meridian and Beverly Young and her husband, Darrin, of Blountsville, Ala.; a son, Michael Lee Burrage of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Hayden and Kailey Young; two sisters, Iris Massey of Noxapater and Mary Alice Henry of Acworth, Ga.; five brothers, J.W. Burrage of Meridian, T.F. Burrage of Montgomery, Ala., Tom Ed Burrage of Estatoba, Taft Burrage of California and Connor Hannah of Louisville.
    He was preceded in death by a son, William Irvin "Billy" Burrage.
    Pallbearers will be James Hannah, Terry McBrayer, Harold McBrayer, Sidney Massey and Al Massey.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
