I have much to be thankful for

Since the beginning of November, many people on Facebook have jumped on the train of naming something that they are thankful for each day leading up to Thanksgiving, and I decided to join in, too.

I’ve named many things that I’m thankful for that you would expect to see such as my salvation, my husband, my parents, my family and my warm house.

But I’ve also named some smaller, seemingly petty, things such as being thankful for the fun things in life like going to see the Twilight Saga at midnight with other avid fans or getting free preview channels on Dish Network that have allowed me to watch re-runs of “The Wonder Years,” which is one of my favorite shows.

Things don’t have to be serious to be worthy of thanks and the reason is simple:

What if we woke up tomorrow with only the things we thanked God for yesterday?

I’ve heard this question asked several times and, sad to say, there are some days where I would wake up with very few of the blessings in my life God has given me.

As a child of God, I should be continually thankful for the things in my life God has allowed me to have and to experience and that includes everything, even the not-so-great things.

I have a lot in my life to be thankful for and I hope this thankful challenge on Facebook will remind me to be thankful year-round and not just during the holidays.

“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18
