Summer is definitely here and you can tell by just looking outside the bright sunny days, shorts, sandals, ice cream and most of all no school.
Summer has always been one of my most favorite times of the year. It gives us a chance to get outdoors and enjoy fun activities like swimming, fishing, and just relaxing in the shade.
If you are looking for another fun activity to take part in this summer, look into 4-H Fun Day.
On Monday, we will have 4-H Fun Day at Bonita Lakes from 10 a.m. until noon. 4-H Fun day is for all youth ages 8-18 who want to learn more about 4-H while participating in meteorology games and forestry activities.
Dr. John Guyton has put together some really fun activities and games that deal with meteorology and we will also take a hike down one of the trails at Bonita Lakes for forestry activities.
We plan on having fun and learning more about nature. The event is free; all you have to do is call the Lauderdale County Extension Office with your name and age prior to the event. Oh yes, we will also have watermelon, another of my favorite things about summer.
4-H offers many programs and projects to youth of all ages, no matter what your interest are. Whether you are interested in livestock, horse, shooting sports, photography, or sewing, 4-H has a place for you.
I hope you have a great summer and will consider making 4-H part of your activities. For more information on how you can be involved in 4-H, call the Lauderdale County Extension Service at 482-9764.
