    OBITUARIES FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 5, 2001

    H.E. HAND JR.
    Retired cattle farmer
    Services for H.E. Hand Jr. will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Pine Grove Church with the Revs. Curtis Dyer and Mike Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in the Martin Community with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Hand, 72, of the Martin community, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Riley Hospital. He was a member of Pine Grove Church and a veteran of the Korean War.
    Survivors include his wife, Thelma Little Hand of the Martin community; two sisters, Louise Ethridge and her husband, Kenneth, of Meridian and Christine Brady and her husband, Horace, of Las Vegas; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Vicich and her husband, Benny, of Livingston, La. and Mildred Grimillion of Gulfport; two brothers-in-law, Sam Little of Pearl and John F. Little and his wife, Shirley, of Mt. Olive; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    He was preceded in death by his father, Hillard E. Hand; his mother, Ava Townsend Hand; three sisters, Sarah Pace, Ila Mae Cross and Frances Hutchings.
    Pallbearers will be Joe Bland, Max Culpepper, Wayne Lee, Ken Ethridge, Benny Vicich and Wallace Pruitt.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan and Tracie Bland.
    Visitation will be today from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
    LULA RUFFIN
    Services for Lula Ruffin will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church with the Rev. George Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Ruffin, 91, of Meridian, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Meridian Community Living Center.
    Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Chambliss of Racine, Wis.; a brother, Lester Smith of Cincinnati; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
    Visitation will be Friday from 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
    ANNA KATE PITTMAN RASBERRY
    Retired school teacher
    Services for Anna Kate Pittman Rasberry will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Keith Grubbs and John Newbaker officiating. Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery.
    Mrs. Rasberry, 81, of Meridian, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Midway Baptist Church and a teacher for 40 years. Mrs. Rasberry served as past state president and was a member of United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was also a member of the Scottish Dames and Library Board.
    Survivors include her husband, George Rasberry of Meridian; a daughter, Saundra Kay Lockwood of Panama City, Fla.; a brother, Roy Y. Rollin and a sister, Edna J. Moulds, both of Ft. Worth, Texas; two grandsons, James F. Lockwood Jr. and his wife, Lori, of Olympia, Wash. and Eric Christopher Lockwood and his wife, Laura, of Georgetown, Texas; a great-grandson, Phillip Graydon Lockwood; two stepdaughters, Lisa Creel and her husband, Ricky, of Meridian and Charlotte Creekmore and her husband, Erman "Pete," of Columbus; three step-grandchildren, David Creel, Johnathan Creekmore and Erin Creekmore.
    She was preceded in death by her first husband, the Rev. Harvey Pittman.
    Pallbearers will be James F. Lockwood Jr., Eric Christopher Lockwood, David Wayne Rollin, Pete Creekmore, Bill Mayfield, Don Pittman and Jimmy Shepherd.
    Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
    BRIAN KEITH COLE
    Professional baseball player
    Services for Brain Keith Cole will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Meridian High School Gymnasium with the Rev. Charles Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Zion Hill Cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Cole, 22, of Meridian, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Jackson Hospital in Marianna, Fla.
    Survivors include his father, William "Pee Wee" Cole Jr., his mother, Maudelene Cole, a sister, Evelyn Cole, three brothers, Robert "Pop Eye" Cole, Gregory Cole and his wife, Stacey, and Michael Cole, his grandparents, Carrie Cole and Mary B. McCoy and two nephews, Maurice Montrell Cole and Jarvis Andrew Cole, all of Meridian; and several uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends.
    Visitation will be Friday beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home and Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. at MHS gymnasium.
    BRUCE D. PATRICK
    Memorial services for Bruce D. Patrick will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jason Bird officiating.
    Mr. Patrick, 50, of Meridian, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at the V.A. Hospital in Jackson.
    Survivors include his wife, Carol Patrick of Meridian; a son, Bruce D. Patrick Jr. of Charleston, Ill.; two daughters, Mellissa A. Patrick of Bossier, La., and April Mae Patrick of Meridian; a sister, Patty Burley of Crockersville, La.; and a brother, Ernest F. Patrick of Shreveport, La.
    Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service.
    BERDELL MCCLINTON JONES
    Retired
    Services for Berdell McClinton Jones will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Lauderdale with the Rev. Obediah Clemons officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Jones, 71, of Meridian, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at Riley Hospital.
    Survivors include her mother, Harriet Carr; eight daughters, Annie Bridges and her husband, Den, Rita Jimmerson, Carolin Jones, Shelia Jones and Kathy Jones, all of Meridian, Clida Kelly and her husband, Wendell, of Lauderdale, Willie Pearl McClinton, Jeanette Kimbrall and her husband, Larry, all of Chicago; two sons, Lurenzo Jones and Antonio Jones, both of Meridian; a stepson, Willie Hopson of East St. Louis, Ill.; a sister, Ledia Hopson of Lauderdale; 26 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
    She was preceded in death by two sons.
    Visitation will be Friday from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Arrangements were incomplete at Barham Funeral Home for Myrtle Scarbrough, 75, of Meridian, who died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
    OLLIE POPE
    Arrangements were incomplete at James F. Webb Funeral Home for Ollie Pope, of Meridian, who died Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Queen City Nursing Center.
