    CARPENTER, SMITH
    Mr. and Mrs. James Ricky Carpenter of Stonewall announce the engagement of their daughter, Christin Dana, to James E. Smith, son of Mary Jean Smith of Wister, Okla., and the late Eddie E. Smith.
    The wedding will be Saturday, March 10, 2001, at 5 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Meridian.
    Miss Carpenter is the granddaughter of Pleamon Griffin and the late Evelyn Griffin and Geraldine Carpenter and the late G.R. "Bud" Carpenter, all of Stonewall.
    The bride-elect is a graduate of Quitman High School and received a degree in accounting from Mississippi State University.
    While attending MSU, she was a member of the American Accounting Association.
    Miss Carpenter is employed by Kemp and Swain P.A.
    Mr. Smith is the grandson of Bernice Nicklin of Franklin, Pa., and the late Paul J. Nicklin and the late William and Louise Smith of Bossier City, La.
    The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Meridian High School and Meridian Community College.
    Mr. Smith is currently employed by Fleetwood Home Center.
    A reception will be held at Union Station following the ceremony.
    Family and friends are invited to attend.
    SHIELDS, MCCANTS
    Mr. and Mrs. Walter Jerry Shields of Meridian announce the engagement of their daughter, Shana Lynn, to John Robert McCants III, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Robert McCants III of Jackson, Ala.
    The wedding will be held Saturday, March 24, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church.
    Miss Shields is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Shields and Gwen Slay and the late H.C. Slay, all of Meridian.
    The bride-elect is a graduate of Meridian High School and received a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Mississippi.
    While attending Ole Miss, she was a member of Phi Mu sorority and also was on the Chancellor's Honor Roll.
    Miss Shields is currently employed as a claim representative for State Farm Insurance Co.
    Mr. McCants is the grandson of Ruby McCants and the late J.R. McCants and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Noble, all of Jackson, Ala.
    The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Jackson High School and received a bachelor of science degree from Auburn University.
    Mr. McCants is currently employed as an agent for State Farm Insurance Co.
    A reception will be held at the church following the ceremony.
    VEAZEY, ROGERS
    Mr. and Mrs. Douglas H. Veazey of Florence announce the engagement of their daughter, Amy Katherine, to Kevin Alan Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don O. Rogers III of Meridian.
    The wedding will be held Saturday, March 10, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Trace Ridge Baptist Church, Ridgeland.
    Miss Veazey is the granddaughter of Hazel Craft of Raleigh and the late Willoughby Craft and Annie Veazey of Calhoun City and the late Lovick Veazey.
    The bride-elect is a 1996 graduate of Florence and a 2000 magna cum laude graduate of Mississippi College, where she received a bachelor of science degree in business administration degree in accounting.
    Miss Veazey is currently a graduate assistant in the school of business at Mississippi College, where she is working toward a master of business administration degree.
    Mr. Rogers is the grandson of Mildred Viner of Ridgeland and the late Stanley Viner and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Chapman of Madison and the late Don Rogers Jr. of Jackson.
    The bridegroom-elect is a 1996 graduate of Lamar High School and a 2000 magna cum laude graduate of Mississippi College, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in English.
    Mr. Rogers is currently a first-year student in the school of law at Mississippi College.
    A reception will be held in the church fellowship hall following the ceremony.
    Family and friends are invited to attend.
    MCFARLAND, EDWARDS
    Effie Edwards and Allen Edwards, both of Quitman, announce the engagement of their daughter, Alonda Chinique, to Christopher James McFarland, son of Vivian McFarland and Curtis McFarland, both of Shubuta.
    The wedding will be held Saturday, March 10, 2001, at 3 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church of the DeSoto Community, with the Rev. Rayford Matthews officiating.
    Miss Edwards is the granddaughter of Bitha Heidelberg and Oscar Heidelberg, both of Quitman, and Helen Edwards of Hattiesburg and the late Curtis Edwards.
    The bride-elect is a 1996 graduate of Quitman High School and received a practical nursing degree from Jones County Junior College in 1998.
    Miss Edwards is currently employed as a licensed practicing nursing at Lakeside Living Center and H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital.
    Mr. McFarland is the grandson of Viola Pore and the late Rase Pore and Mamie and Lester McFarland, all of Shubuta.
    The bridegroom-elect is a 1993 graduate of Wayne County High School and a 1998 graduate of the Harrison County Police Academy.
    Mr. McFarland is currently a deputy sheriff for sheriff offices in Lauderdale and Clarke counties.
    A reception will be held at Clarke County Shriner's Building following the ceremony.
    CULPEPPER, AKIN
    Wayne Culpepper and Martha Culpepper, both of Meridian, announce the engagement of their daughter, Susan Avy, to Michael Thomas Akin, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Thomas Akin of Jackson.
    The wedding will be held Saturday, April 7, 2001, at 3 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church.
    Miss Culpepper is the granddaughter of Miriam Culpepper of Bailey and Rachel Bell Richards of Caledonia.
    The bride-elect is a graduate of Northeast Lauderdale High School and received an associate of arts degree in dental hygiene from Meridian Community College.
    Miss Culpepper is currently employed by Dr. Ed Redding.
    Mr. Akin is the grandson of Essie Akin of Jackson.
    The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Woodland Hills Baptist Academy and received a bachelor of science degree in environmental geoscience from Mississippi State University.
    Mr. Akin is currently employed by the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, Office of Geology.
    A reception will be held at the church following the ceremony.
