Kudos for getting funding

By Staff
Local agencies throughout Franklin County, and other rural parts of the country, have long been in need of more funding than they have.
One way smaller departments without tax bases survive, whether it be fire or police departments, is through grant money.
Capt. Steve Thornton, with the Russellville Fire Department, has been able to help agencies throughout Franklin County in getting the federal funding they desperately need.
Without his work, along with many others who help in the grant writing process, county departments would be far behind where they are.
Though there is always a need and desire for more, our departments have been able to get certain equipment and training that they otherwise would not have received.
We commend all those who work so hard searching for more money that benefits all of Franklin County.
It is through your efforts that those who need do not have to go without.
