NEWTON Services for Roy James Langdon will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home of Newton with the Rev. Lin Chesney officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Langdon, 79, of Hickory, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was a retired carpenter, and he was born in Neshoba County. He was a member of Hickory Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Faye Sanderson of Lawrence and Brenda O'Neal James of Hickory; a son, Roy R. Langdon of Lawrence; a brother, Joy Langdon of Meridian; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Artie Cape Langdon.
BULA BELL THOMAS

PHILADELPHIA Services for Bula Bell Thomas will be held today at 4 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Neshoba County.
Mrs. Thomas, 73, of Meridian died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Thomas of Meridian; two grandchildren; and a brother, Jesse Hurt of Philadelphia.
LAWRENCE CALLOWAY SMITH

DEKALB Services for retired Chief Master Sgt. Lawrence "Callie" Calloway Smith will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Binnsville Methodist Church with the Revs. John Wood and Charles Kottenbrook officiating. Burial will be in Binnsville Cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home of DeKalb in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Smith, 84, of Scooba, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at his residence. Mr. Smith, a farmer, served 22 years in the Air Force and 20 years in civil service at Naval Air Station Meridian. He was a past lay leader and a longtime member of Binnsville Methodist Church. Mr. Smith was very active in community affairs as well as the Boys Scouts of America.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Carol Smith Hutcherson of Cookeville, Tenn.; two sons, Robert Steven Smith of West Point and Larry Smith of Scooba; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Kimmell of LaPeer, Mich.; and three brothers, George Smith of West Point, Melvin Smith of Mobile, Ala., and Bill Smith of Jacksonville, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Francis Smith; a sister, Mamie Lois Vaughn; and a brother, Howard Love "TP" Smith.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service.
SHIRLEY G. BYNUM

UNION Services for Shirley G. Bynum will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Beulah Baptist Church with the Revs. Ed Knox and Byron Howell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Milling Funeral Home of Union in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Bynum, 69, of Decatur, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Kings Daughters Nursing Home. She was retired from her job as a nurse at Riley Hospital. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Bynum, of Decatur; two sons, Bobby Bynum and his wife, Brenda, of Decatur, and Billy Bynum and his wife, Missy, of Waynesboro; a daughter, Jackie Sheehan and her husband, Ricky, of Little Rock; two sisters, Jewell Soper of Tupelo and Glenna Thaggard of Little Rock; two brothers, Ervin Lee of Eastland, Texas, and Edwin Graham of Decatur; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family requests memorials be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 297, Newton, MS 39345.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Hailey Snowden, William Huey, Ricky Harrison, Randall Huey, Bill Glenn and Wayne Lanier.
KENNETH J. CLAYTON
Services for Kenneth J. Clayton will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Clark's Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Clayton, 70, of Meridian died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Ward Clayton; his mother, Rachel Clayton; nine children, Hazel Hollaway, Linda Ward Cole, Gwendolyn Faye Ward, Grenada Ward, Diane Ward, Calvin Ward, Kenneth Jerry Ward, Willie Charles Ward and Michael Ray Ward, all of Meridian; three sisters, Katie Ward, Connie Ward and Maxine Ward, all of Chicago; a brother, Alexander Ward Jr. of Chicago; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alexander Ward.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
