Lady Hornets out of playoffs

LAKE The McAdams Lady Bulldogs used a 10-0 run in the second quarter to knock the Lake Lady Hornets out of the Class 1A South State playoffs in a 59-56 decision.
The defending Class 1A State Champion, Lady Hornets scored 18 points in the first quarter to take a three-point lead after one complete quarter.
In the second quarter, the Lady Bulldogs found a 10-0 run to take a 25-21 lead. McAdams tallied up 19 points in the second quarter, compared to a mere seven for the Lady Hornets. McAdams enjoyed a 34-25 halftime lead, despite missing 12 free throws in the first two quarters of play.
The Lady Hornets made somewhat of a comeback in the third quarter, by tying the game and later taking a 37-36 lead with 2:10 left in the quarter.
McAdams scored 13 points compared to 18 points for the Lady Hornets in the third quarter. McAdams took a 47-43 lead into the final quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Lady Hornets cut the Lady Bulldog lead to two points (56-54), when Shariece Towner nailed a three-pointer. The Lady Hornets had a chance to tie the game after the Towner three-pointer, but the Lady Hornets failed to connect with the free throw attempts.
After two missed free throw attempts for McAdams, the Lady Hornets had possession of the ball and the official accidentally blew his whistle. The game was stopped, and the official called the mistake an inadvertent whistle, and ruled a jump ball, giving McAdams possession of the ball.
The Lady Bulldogs knocked down two key free throws to pace themselves to a 59-56 victory.
Lake was led in scoring by Roxana Rogers with 17 and Kimyatta Viverette with 13 points.
McAdams was led in scoring by Ashton Washington with 17, Tikeshia Brown with 12, Debra Brown with 11, and Felicia Brown with 10.
The Lady Hornets finished their campaign with an impressive record of 27-4.
Ingersoll is already looking to next year.
The 29-3 McAdams Lady Bulldogs will be in action again Friday.
