Phil Campbell falls to Lamar

The Lamar County Bulldogs piled up 492 total yards on the Phil Campbell Bobcats Friday night in route to a 54-12 region win.
Phil Campbell’s inability to run the football and falling behind early made the Bobcats a one-dimensional team. Phil Campbell ran the ball 13 times for 35 yards.
Peyton Thomas completed 18 of 31 passes for 277 yards. Over half those yards came on three pass plays – a 44-yard completion to Brandon Baker, a 53-yard pass to Seth Brindley and a 43-yard completion to Brodie Nix. Thomas ran for the Bobcats’ two touchdowns in the third quarter. Nix caught five passes for 61 yards.
Lamar County scored twice in the first quarter to lead the Bobcats 14-0 at the end of the first, then the Bulldogs scored two more times in the second quarter on nine-yard run and a seven-yard pass.
The Bulldogs led 28-0 at halftime.
Lamar County extended that lead to 35-0 with 5:15 to in the third quarter on a four-yard run.
The Bobcats got their first points with 2:38 to go in the third quarter on a three-yard run by Thomas. That drive was aided by a 43-yard completion to Nix and an 18-yard completion to Ridge Raper.
Lamar County answered the Bobcats on the first play of their next drive, running the ball 67 yards for a touchdown to make the score 42-6.
Phil Campbell scored again with 00:46 to go in the third quarter on a five-yard run by Thomas to make the score 42-12. The drive was aided by a 39-yard completion to Sam Pierce.
Lamar County put two more touchdowns on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter.
Phil Campbell will travel to Sheffield Friday night for another region contest.
