Wildcat teams get wins
BASEBALL: THARPTOWN WALKS OFF ATHENS BIBLE
The Tharptown Wildcats had built up a sizable lead over Athens Bible but let it slip away late – only to win the game on a walk-off hit by Logan Bevis.
Tharptown led Athens Bible 7-2 going into the sixth inning but gave up four runs in the top of the sixth and one in the top of the seventh to tie the game.
Bevis came through on a live drive to left field to score Hunter Motes and win the game.
Dawson Higgins led the Widlcats at the plate, going three for three with a triple, an RBI and two scores. Motes also scored twice. Ty Engelthaler had a hit, RBI and run for Tharptown.
SOFTBALL: PITCHING RULES IN THARPTOWN WIN
On a rain-soaked Thursday afternoon, the Tharptown bats came alive to run-rule the Vina Red Devils, winning 11-1.
The Wildcats scored three runs in the first inning and four in the second to build a 7-0 lead.
It was easily all Tharptown would need as freshman pitcher Alyssa Fischer mowed down batter after batter. Fischer allowed one run and five hits and struck out four Vina batters.
Fischer also got the work done at the plate, going three for three with two doubles and three RBIs.
Tharptown also got doubles from freshmen Lexi Little and Lily Sutton. Little went three for three with three RBIs.
Cortney Smith also knocked in three runs.
