Evola Byrd Taylor
Evola Byrd Taylor, age 89, Spruce Pine, passed away March 20 at her residence.
Mrs. Evola was the oldest living member of Spruce Pine Baptist Church, having lived in the Spruce Pine community for over 74 years. Over the years, she had worked at Phil Campbell Manufacturing, Kelwood and HD Lee. She was a kind and loving woman who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
The visitation will be 10-11 a.m. March 23 at Spruce Pine Baptist Church, with the funeral following at 11 a.m. at the church. Officiating will be Bro. Jerome Sherrill. Burial will be at Spruce Pine Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Taylor; parents, Claude and Lina Mae Byrd; and brother, Orbie Byrd.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 16 years, Harvey Mason; children, Charles Taylor and wife Mary Ann, Wanda Harper and husband Fred and Sharron Farned and husband Sammy; grandchildren, Jay Harper, Denise Harper Presley, William Harper, Charles Taylor Jr. and Mary Angela Harrelson; great-grandchildren, Madison, Kyndel and Aubrey Harper, Marcus and Austin Brazell, Aiden Taylor, Cortney Harper and Carley, Emily and Josh Harrelson, Christina Price and DeKota Harper; great-great-grandchildren, Kallisto, Mollie, Teagan, Lucas, Madison and Raelyn; sister-in-law, Louise Byrd; and several nieces and nephews.
The pallbearers will be Jay Harper, Marcus Brazell, Josh Harrelson, Austin Brazell, Brandon Mitchel and Charles Taylor Jr. The honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Taylor and John Taylor.
