Gordon Buryl Smith, 77, of Russellville, died Thursday, Oct. 24, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

The funeral services were Saturday, Oct. 26 at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Ronald L. Smith and Reverend Lee Clements officiating.  Burial was in Franklin Memory Gardens

His wife of 57 years, Ruth Hammack Smith; many loving nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law; cousins and friends survive Mr. Smith.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Maud Smith; brothers, Horace Smith and Lloyd Smith; sisters, Corrine Wells and Gearldine Isom; and niece, Lisa Smith Davis.

Mr. Smith taught auto mechanics for 30 years at Russellville High School.  He served in the Alabama National Guard for 23 years.  He served in every office through President in the Russellville Jaycees.  Mr. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church in Russellville.

Pallbearers were Gene Arthur, Scott Bryant, Adron Davis, Steve Hammack, Tommy Hammock, Anthony Logan, Carl Smith, Ricky Wells, Chris Cruz and Cam DeArman.

Honorary bearers were Jerry Baker, Howard Barnett, Gene Ellison, Donald Jones, Troy Oliver, Calvin Parmer, Sammy Smith, Jerry Wells and Bobby Wells.

The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to Hospice of North Alabama and nurses, Keesha Lindley, RN, Lynda Fuqua, RN, and Machelle Williams, Hospice aide.
