Man accused of strangling woman in dispute
A Morgan County man accused of strangling a woman during a domestic dispute was arrested Thursday night, officials said.
Daniel Ray Brown, 29, 2366 Morgan 299, Trinity, was charged with second-degree domestic violence-strangulation, first-degree theft of property and interfering with a domestic violence emergency call, Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said.
According to Hargett, the alleged incident occurred on Wednesday at a residence located in the 800 block of Waterloo Road in Russellville.
Police investigator Lt. Scotty Lowery said Brown and the 29-year-old female victim got into an argument and during the dispute, Brown allegedly choked her.
Lowery said when the victim stated she was going to call the police, Brown reportedly broke the woman’s cell phone.
“At this time, reports state Mr. Brown stole the keys to the woman’s vehicle and took the vehicle to Morgan County,” Lowery said.
“He was still in Morgan County at 9 p.m. Thursday night when Morgan County authorities located him and took him into custody.”
Lowery said Brown was transported back to the Russellville Police Department where he was formally arrested on the charges.
Brown is in custody at the Franklin County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
