Lexington outmans Bobcats 70-8

LEXINGTON – The Phil Campbell Bobcats have to focus on the games they can win and put Friday’s 70-8 loss to Lexington behind them, said Coach Ryan Swinney.
“We knew coming in there that Lexington was going to be tough. The boys tried hard, but sometimes you’re just outmanned,” Swinney said.

“There’s still some games that we can win. We’ve just got to keep trying to improve every week. We’ve got a ways to go, but we are getting there.”
Lexington scored on its opening drive when Wes Shirley ran 4-yards to cap a seven-play, 48-yard drive with 6:46 remaining in the first quarter.
Lexington scored again 2 minutes later when Matthew Putman connected with Dakota Saint on a 74-yard pass play.
The Golden Bears added another touchdown in the first quarter then three more in the second quarter to led 42-0 at halftime.
Lexington scored twice in the third quarter and two more times in the fourth quarter.
Phil Campbell’s lone scoring drive, which covered 68 yards in the 13 plays, was capped by a 19-yard pass from Thomas Peyton to Tristan Godsey with 7:22 remaining in the game. Peyton connected with Godsey for the two-point conversion.
Swinney said the Bobcats are going to work hard next week preparing to host Colbert Heights.
“Our boys are working hard, their time is coming,” Swinney said.
