Mary Jane “MJ” Brown

Mary Jane “MJ” Brown of Grand Junction, Colo., passed away May 18. She was born in Russellville Feb. 10, 1939, to Annie Lorene Rowe Hargett and Ross Bradley Hargett and later graduated from Auburn University before moving to Pensacola, Fla., to teach elementary school.
Mary Jane and husband Ridgely Brown were married in Coronado Beach, Calif., where she continued her teaching career. They moved to Littleton, Colo., and later to Dillon, Colo.To escape the cold winters, they began spending their winters in Tucson, Ariz., and later moved to Grand Junction, Colo. Throughout, Mary Jane enjoyed book clubs, reading, playing tennis and reminiscing about their wonderful trip to Paris.
Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life for 39 years; her parents; and nephew, David Bradley Hargett. She is survived by her brother, George Bradley Hargett, and nephews Christopher Warren Hargett, Jeffrey Ross Hargett and Brian Andrew Hargett.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. May 24 at Callahan Edfast Mortuary at 2515 Patterson Road, Grand Junction, Colo.

A graveside service was held May 25 at 11 a.m. at the Dillon Cemetery in Dillon, Colo.
