Deeann Bickerstaff Arwood, 41, of Russellville, formerly of Phil Campbell passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2010 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham, Ala. She served in the United States Army. She was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church and the manager of the Vision Center at Wal-Mart Super Center in Russellville.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Bro. Mark Daniel officiating. Burial was in Middle Cemetery in Hackleburg, Ala.
She is survived by her son, Cayne Arwood; parents, Dee and Edna Bickerstaff; friend, James Fell; sisters, Sara Fisher and Jennifer Bickerstaff; special friend, Tina Bridges; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Bickerstaff; and sister Jane Baggi.
Herman H. Burton

Herman H. Burton, 82, of Golden, Miss. passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010 at his residence. He was born June 17, 1927 in Belmont, Miss. to S.T. and Lona Keeton Burton. He had been an employee of Johns Manville and was a dump truck driver for twenty years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II and was a member of the VFW.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Gene Cooley officiating. Burial was in Ridge Cemetery in Golden, Miss.
He is survived by one daughter, Sandra Schnider, of Golden, Miss.; one son, Randall “Randy” Burton, Golden, Miss.; one sister, Helen Ridings, Nettleton, Miss.; two brothers, Sherman Burton, Nettleton, Miss. and Dennis Wayne Burton and wife, Betty, of Hamilton; three grandchildren, Scott Indvick, Heather Bentivegna and husband, Jimmy, and Shannon Indvick-Tanner and husband, Daniel, all of Golden, Miss.; six great-grandchildren, Davin Tanner, Maggie Bentivegna, Travis Carter, Matthew Carter, Mike Donovan and Pam Smith; and one great-great-grandson, Dalton Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 53 years, Evelyn Wood Burton; and three sisters, Pauline Swindle, Maeline Hemphill and Jeanette Tate.
Pallbearers were Eric Williams, Donnie Wood, David Wood, Mike Mabus, Frank Hemphill and Larry Higginbottom.

Edwin Leroy Franks, 71, of Fulton, Miss. passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn. He was born May 1, 1938 in Itawamba County, Miss. to Rev. Burl C. and Dollie Mae Long Franks. He was a prison inspector for the State of Florida Department of Corrections, a retired Lieutenant from Daytona Beach Police Dept. and a ham radio operator with call sign N5FP. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Martin Jameson officiating. Burial was in Ridge Cemetery.
He is survived by one son, Timothy Franks and wife, Michele, of Port Orange, Fla.; one daughter, Dawn Nicholson and husband, Tom, of Deltona, Fla.; one sister, Dena Franks Lee, of Enterprise, Ala.; one brother, Leon Franks and wife, Barbara, of Knoxville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Abigail, Laura, Jeremy and Emily; two nieces, Kristen Elizabeth Lee and Cynthia Franks Barber; and three nephews, Jonathan Michael Lee, Richard Leon Franks and Bill Shamblin, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carolyn Franks Shamblin.
Pallbearers were Johnny Lesley, Jerry Summers, Johnny Farris, Jason Farris, Chris Umfress and Terry Stanley.
Fannie Lou Mayhall Whitman

Fannie Lou Mayhall Whitman, 82, of Haleyville, Ala. passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2010. She was remembered from working in several of the restaurants in Haleyville and she was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Rev. T.L. Pierce officiating. Burial was in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
She is survived by her brother, Paul S. Mayhall and his wife, Linda; sister-in-laws, Nellie Jo Mayhall and Nancy Owens; and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Irene Mayhall; husbands, S.R. Posey, Arvo Medlock and Virgil Whitman; brothers, Reuben, Millard, Willard and Trellis; sisters, Leola, Maxine, Lois and two infant sisters.

Jessie Edward Oliver, 76, of Vina passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010 at his residence.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 at Halltown Cemetery with Bro. Greg Phillmey officiating.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie William and Alice Oliver; grandparents; and four brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Oliver; daughter, Anita Joan Davis; sons, Douglas Edward Oliver and Timothy Allen Oliver; five grandchildren, Mitzi, Austin, Allison, Jessie and Shelby-Anna; two great-grandchildren, Briley and Baleigh; sister, Gertha Scott; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
He was loved by all and will be missed by everyone.
W. Terrell Bragwell

W. Terrell Bragwell, 66, Russellville, Ala., passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010 at his residence.
He was a lifetime resident of Franklin County and member and current pastor of Mt. Home #1 Missionary Baptist Church in Tuscumbia. He also had been the pastor at Old Bethel, New Harmony, Ephesus, Isbell Chapel, Gum Springs and New Sockwell Missionary Baptist Church. He was in automobile sales for 30 years in the Shoals area.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville with Bro. Wayne Boyles and Bro. Bruce Pope officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Memory Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Jayne Bragwell, of Russellville; children, Keyna Nicole Smith and husband, Wayne, of Russellville, Kale Lee Bragwell and wife, Jamie, of Florence, Trevor Paul Bragwell and wife, Angie, of Guin, Ala.; foster son, Cassidy Lee King, of Russellville; brothers, Edward Bragwell and Jimmy Bragwell, both of Russellville; grandchildren, Kyle Bragwell and wife, Jamie, Justin Reynolds, Jordan Reynolds Mayfield and husband, Matt, Kameron Bragwell and wife, Leah, Zachary Dunstan, Cassius King, Jacob Bragwell, Jaxon Smith, Brice King, Luke Bragwell; great-grandchildren, Valerie Bragwell and Kade Bragwell; several nieces and nephews.
