    Billy Wayne Dixon

    Billy Wayne Dixon, 62, of Bear Creek, Ala. passed away Monday, Dec. 14, 2009. He played college football at the University of Tennessee. He was a loved father and loved grandfather and a man who will be missed by many. Billy “Daddy Pop” and his grandson, Wes were great buddies who were always together, and now will forever be together. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Haleyville. He was a retired from Phillips Elementary School, and belonged to Haleyville Masonic Lodge 464.
    Funeral services were held Dec. 17, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Haleyville with Dr. Jim Cooley officiating. Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery. Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville assisted the family.
    He is survived by his wife, Pamela Lawler Dixon; children, Heather Evans and husband, Todd, and Billy “Bubba” Wayne Dixon, II and fianc/e, Joanna Stubbs; mother Mildred Louise Dixon; sister, Brenda Cothrum and husband, Paul; and grandchildren, William Todd Evans and Mary Kathryn Evans.
    He was preceded in death by his father, H.E. “Tip” Dixon and grandson, Wesley Dixon Evans.
    Wesley Dixon Evans

    Wesley Dixon Evans, 22 months, of Haleyville, Ala. passed away Monday, Dec. 14, 2009. Wes and his “Daddy Pop” were great buddies who were always together, and now will forever by together. Wes was a loved son, brother, grandson, great-grandson and nephew, and one who will be missed by many. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Haleyville.
    Funeral services were held Dec. 17, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Haleyville with Dr. Jim Cooley officiating. Burial was in Liberty Hill Cemetery. Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville assisted the family.
    He is survived by his parents, Todd and Heather Evans; brother, William Todd Evans; sister, Mary Kathryn Evans; grandmother, Pam Dixon; grandparents, Vance and Becky Evans; great-grandmother, Mildred Louise Dixon; uncle, Bubba Dixon and fianc/e, Joanna Stubbs; aunt and uncle, Brooke and Jason Yarbrough; and cousins, Rome and Nash Yarbrough.
    He was preceded in death by his granddaddy “Daddy Pop” Billy Wayne Dixon.
    Malcolm Richard Roberson

    Malcolm Richard Roberson, 82, of Haleyville, Ala. passed away Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009 at his residence. He was born Dec. 12, 1927 in Pontotoc, Miss. He was a manager in the mobile home supply industry and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Haleyville.
    Funeral services were held Dec. 18, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Haleyville with Dr. Jim Cooley officiating. Burial was in Sunny Home Church Cemetery.
    He is survived by his wife, Wilma Wilson Roberson; sons, Richard Lee Roberson and wife, Karen, David A. Roberson and wife, Rita, and Jerry Roberson; sisters, Rachel Hemphill and Helen McCaskill; grandchildren, Zachary Roberson, Terry Roberson, Rachel Roberson, Erica Roberson, Emma Roberson and Charlie Roberson; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Roberson and Grayson Goddard.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Kendall and Mary Roberson.
    Carl Lee Fuller

    Carl Lee Fuller, 66, of Russellville, Ala., passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2009, at his residence.
    Mr. Fuller was a lifetime resident of Franklin County and the owner and operator of Fuller Dozier Service.
    Graveside services were held December 17, 2009 at Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Russellville with Andy Lane officiating. Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville assisted the family.
    Survivors include his wife, Elaine Malone Fuller; children, Scott Fuller, of Tuscumbia, Jamie Fuller, of Haleyville, Danny Fuller, of Russellville; sisters, Leathyl Gilbert, Mae Bazilevich, Ann McDaniel, Sue Scruggs; brother, Billy Fuller; grandchildren, Brooke Fuller, Russ Fuller, Ryder Fuller, Leslie Fuller, Ansley Lisby, and Kaden Fuller; several nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by son, Michael Fuller; parents, W.C. and Annie Fuller; sister, Meathyl Witt; brothers, James Fuller, W.C. Fuller, Jr.
    Annaleen Freeman
    Decemeber 8, 2009
    Annaleen Freeman, 79, of Tulsa, Okla., passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at Rosewood Nursing Home in Tulsa.
    A graveside service was held Dec. 16, 2009, at New Friendship Cemetery in Russellville with Jackie Richardson officiating.
    She is survived by children, Susie Freeman and Ronald E. Freeman, both of Tulsa, Okla.; sisters, Jewell Hargett, of Belgreen, Ala., Oleta Stranahan, of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Betty Berrier, of Frisco, Texas; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by husband, Howard Eugene Freeman; son, Steve Freeman and daughter; Patricia Freeman; parents; John B. and Ora Alice Harmon.
    Lillie Nix Peden
    December 14, 2009
    Lillie Nix Peden, 86, of Gulf Breeze, Fla., formerly of Phil Campbell, Ala., passed away on Monday, Dec. 14, 2009 at Gulf Breeze Hospital. She was born on Friday, Nov. 9, 1923 in Franklin County, Ala. to Lee and Lois Nix.
    Funeral services were held Dec. 17, 2009 at Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Keith Barnett officiating. Interment was in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, George Leon Peden; parents, Lee and Lois Freeman Nix; siblings, Tressie Lou Mashburn, Macie McDonald, Grace Woodruff, Agnes Nix, Horace Nix, Leon Nix, Edward Nix, and Lee “Boss” Nix.
    She is survived by a son, Scott Peden and wife, Rene/; brother, Melvin Nix; grandchildren, Joshua Peden, Kimberly Peden, and Laura Carr.
    She was a member of the Church of Christ.
    Dorothy Louise McDaniel
    December 10, 2009
    Dorothy L. McDaniel, 81, of Palm Coast, Fla., died Friday, December 10, 2009 at the Flagler Pines Nursing Home in Bunnell, Fla. She was born on Oct., 14, 1928 in Russellville, Ala. to Charlie and Lulu Moore McDaniel.
    Dorothy worked in retail sales of upscale ladies fashion. She started as a fashion model after graduating from the Patricia Stevens School of Modeling. Dorothy managed the Ladies Fashion department at Halle Brothers in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the regional manager of Lerner’s, which is now New York and Co., in Charleston, W. Va. Dorothy also served as the manger at Marci’s, a fashion boutique in LaJolla, Calif. Dorothy received her Real Estate certificate from the University of Akron, Akron, Ohio. She attended the University of Utah in Logan, Utah, and attended classes at the University of New Mexico. One of the highlights of Dorothy’s career was that she was selected as “Woman of the Year” for Cleveland, Ohio during the 1970’s. Dorothy was baptized at the age of 16 and a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. Dorothy moved to Palm Coast in 2007 from Atlanta with her daughter, Wanda, and was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Bunnell. Dorothy is survived by two daughters; six siblings; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
    There will be a memorial service on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Central Church of Christ, Palm Coast, Fla. with David Stidham officiating. Additional memorial services in Russellville, Ala. will be announced at a later date.
