Russellville officials plan to propose a new ordinance for electricians to follow to practice in the city.
The old electrician’s ordinance, set into place in 1992, prescribed how electricians could obtain a license and they could either have a state license, which qualifies electricians to practice anywhere throughout the state, or if you did not have a state license you would be asked to take a certain test for different municipalities, which qualifies electricians to practice in certain cities.
Russellville attorney Danny McDowell said a new ordinance must be set.
Some electricians may be practicing with faulty licenses within the city.
McDowell said those electricians might have been given a license in error.
McDowell said those who became electricians here under the original clause are safe.
McDowell said he hopes to have the proposal ready to be put on the agenda for Monday’s council meeting.
