Community comes together during the hard times

Damage occurred in various places across our county as a result of Saturday’s EF-2 tornado. Unfortunately, tornadoes are not a new issue for us. It’s in times like this that we have the opportunity, though both big and small actions, to show each other we care and to help one another through trying times.

Doubtless many of you have stories of either this occasion or others where members of our community came together to help each other through unexpected hardships.

Some of our community members traveled to our neighboring town of Tuscumbia in Colbert County to help with the extensive cleanup and repair work being done there following their downtown being especially hard hit over the same weekend.

It’s a good time to remember that we can help each other all the time, not just during troubling times. Let’s take the encouragement of seeing how our friends and neighbors are helping each other to remember to work to be more kind and helpful all throughout the year. That’s what community is all about, encouraging and helping each other along the way.

Together, we are stronger, and we are better together.
