Eady’s bid of $499K is lowest for project
RUSSELLVILLE — Eady Contracting has submitted the low bid for the next sidewalk project for Muscle Shoals.
Muscle Shoals City Engineer Brad Williams said Eady’s bid was $499,266.
The next lowest bid, $536,931, was submitted by Nelms & Gasque of Muscle Shoals.
MLMD LLC of Muscle Shoals bid $670,633 while Grayson Carter & Son Contracting of Athens bid $766,266, Williams said.
Williams said he will review Eady’s bid to ensure it meets project specifications, then present it to the city council at the Feb. 17 meeting.
“I would expect them to probably go ahead and award it,” he said.
The project will extend the existing sidewalk that begins at Webster Elementary School and ends at the Airport Sports Complex just north of the school to existing sidewalks on Avalon Avenue near the entrance to the Northwest Alabama Regional Airport, Williams said.
Another phase of the project will extend the existing sidewalk on Brown Street to the sidewalk on Sixth Street.
Williams said the project will probably begin sometime in March or April.
The majority of the sidewalk project is being funded by a $507,494 Transportation Alternatives Program grant, which accounts for 80% of the project’s cost, according to the construction agreement between Muscle Shoals and the Alabama Department of Transportation According to the construction agreement approved in November 2023, Muscle Shoals will contribute $126,873 to the project.
