Miss Northwest Shoals Scholarship Competition takes place Saturday

PHIL CAMPBELL — Northwest Shoals Community College (NWSCC) will host the 2025 Miss Northwest Shoals Scholarship Competition, a preliminary event to Miss Alabama, on Saturday.

Organized by NWSCC Student Life, the pageant begins at 6 p.m. in the Lou B. Bevill Center.

NWSCC will welcome 2024 Homecoming kings, Eli Cooper of Russellville and Reece Carson of Russellville as emcees for the evening. They will be joined by Silvie Miller, reigning 2024 Miss Northwest Shoals.

This year’s competition will again include qualifying high school seniors participating in the college’s dual enrollment program.

Miller, a 2024 NWSCC graduate and current student at the University of North Alabama, will conclude her reign as Miss Northwest Shoals. She said it has been an honor to represent the college at many events over the past year.

“Serving as Miss Northwest Shoals this past year has been an incredible honor,” Miller said. “This experience has given me the opportunity to grow as a leader, connect with our community and proudly showcase our Patriot spirit. I am so grateful for the support of NWSCC and will cherish these memories.”

According to Savannah Liles, event coordinator, the Miss Northwest Shoals Scholarship Competition is a “great opportunity for the college to empower and support talented women at the college.”
