3 face drug trafficking charges in Red Bay
RED BAY — Three people are facing drug trafficking charges and chemical endangerment of a child charges after investigators executed a search warrant on Jan. 24 at Village Green Apartments in Red Bay.
Investigators received tips that a known drug dealer in the area was going to be at an apartment on on Jan. 24, according to Sgt. Kyle Palmer.
When investigators and deputies arrived at one of the apartments, they found three people inside the apartment along with various illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia inside the apartment, according to court records.
Jake Brown, 31, of Detroit, Alabama, was one of the suspects who the sheriff’s office had been investigating for more than a month, according to Palmer.
“We had received information that he had been into drug distribution in Red Bay for a while,” Palmer said. “During that time, we gathered enough information to obtain a search warrant for the apartment.”
Investigators seized almost 50 grams of methamphetamines.
At the time of the execution of the search warrant, there also was a 14-yearold child in the apartment, according to Palmer.
Brown was arrested and charged with one count each of drug trafficking (meth), chemical endangerment of a child, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, third-degree criminal trespass and tampering with physical evidence.
He was booked into the Franklin County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
Maggie Leigh Ann Parrish, 39, of Red Bay also was arrested and charged with one count each of drug trafficking (meth), chemical endangerment of a child, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence and loitering.
Parrish was booked into the Franklin County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
Katrina Lashone Colburn, 40, of Red Bay also was arrested and charged with one count each of drug trafficking (meth), chemical endangerment of a child, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.
When investigators entered the apartment Brown, Parrish and Colburn allegedly tried to hide the meth behind a bed in a bedroom of the apartment, according to court documents.
Colburn was the listed resident of the apartment, according to court records.
Colburn was booked into the Franklin County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
All three suspects have a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 21, according to court records.
