Infrequent visitor decorates Franklin County

She Says

As I write this, the odd pocket of snow remains here and there, few and far between, mostly hidden, largely tucked away in shady spots.

Although, this morning, I saw an especially big ball of snow, so big I can only assume it was all that remained of a snowman. The portion I saw was surely the base, and, if it was any indication, this must surely have been a rather formidable snowman indeed.

I have made attempts over the years, but didn’t try my skills this time; however, in one of those small patches of snow persisting, I decided to draw a smiley face. The snow was crunchy and about half a finger deep. I crafted my work by pressing one imperfect circle at a time with a fingertip. Although it’s no masterpiece of snow art, it made me smile a bit. It’s always nice to find joy in snow.

And in Franklin County, it’s not a chance we often get. From the photos we’ve received, many of you took the opportunity to make the most out of having fun in the snow this weekend, and that’s always a happy thing to see folks enjoy. Will it snow again this winter? I’m not holding my breath, but if it comes, it will be a welcome sight and a happy surprise. Perhaps I’ll research the best snowman- making techniques just in case.
