In a classic clash of county rivals, the Phil Campbell Bobcats emerged victorious over the Belgreen Bulldogs in a nail-biting overtime showdown. The game was a backand- forth affair from the opening tip. Phil Campbell jumped out to an early 10-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Belgreen responded in the second, outscoring the Bobcats 11-10 to close the gap.

The third quarter saw a flurry of scoring, with Belgreen edging Phil Campbell 16-15, fueled by four three-pointers. Belgreen continued their momentum into the fourth, outscoring Phil Campbell 6-4. With the clock winding down, Belgreen’s Dacota Green drove the baseline and hit a clutch layup, sending the game into a dramatic overtime period.

The extra period was a tense battle, with both teams trading baskets. In the final seconds, Phil Campbell’s Leela Baker received a perfect assist from Macy Hardy and converted a layup, securing the hard-fought victory for the Bobcats.

Leela Baker led the Bobcats in scoring with 17 points, followed by Sidda Rogers with 11 and Macy Hardy with 9. Kaylie Motes added 3 points, while Layla Baker and Mia Ambrosio each contributed two.

Belgreen’s Dacota Green put on an impressive performance, leading all scorers with 21 points, including five three-pointers. Lilliana Willingham added seven points for the Bulldogs, while Makenna Fisher chipped in with five. Lily Green scored three, and Bryn Scott, Randi Terry and Carson Hovater each added two points.

The game was a testament to the intense rivalry between the two schools, with both teams displaying grit and determination. The Bobcats’ lastsecond heroics capped off an unforgettable night of basketball and gave a glimpse to a possible preview to the Franklin County Tournament finals this week.

Belgreen 46, Hackleburg 37 Belgreen beat the Hackleburg Panthers earlier in the week 46-37.

The Bulldogs led 13-8 at the end of the first quarter but the Panthers battled back to cut the lead to 20-17 at halftime. Hackleburg tied the game 32-32 in the third quarter, but Belgreen dominated the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Lilliana Willingham led Belgreen with 13 points, followed by Makenna Fisher with 10 points. Lily Green and Alayana Tate scored five points each. Dacota Green added four points, followed by Randi Terry with three points. Bryn Scott, Jacqueline Alban and Mackinley Hogan scored two points each.
