County football teams struggle
It was a tough night for the county schools on the gridiron, with all schools falling to their opponents.
The Red Bay Tigers lost their Homecoming game to Decatur Heritage, 35-6. Red Bay scored early in the second quarter and trailed 14-6 at halftime. The Eagles proved to be too tough an opponent for the Tigers, scoring 21 unanswered points in the second half. Red Bay’s Jordin Barnette was crowned Homecoming Queen. Gracie Weatherford was crowned Football Queen, and Ashley Epps was named Football Princess.
Phil Campbell traveled to Gordo in a Class 3A matchup, and the Bobcats fell behind early, 24-0, losing 48-12. The loss eliminated Phil Campbell from playoff contention.
Vina lost on the road to Addison 41-14. Tharptown remains winless, losing to undefeated Winston County, 72-20.
