Vina bounces back in close victory against Waterloo

The Vina Red Devils won a close game against the Waterloo Cougars, 16-14. The Red Devils bounced back after a 46-0 loss to the Hackleburg Panthers, improving their record to 5-2.

Vina’s defense held Waterloo to eight points in the first half, but Vina was unable to score. At halftime, the score was 8-0.

After a scoreless first half, the Red Devils rallied and scored early in the third quarter on a five-yard rushing touchdown by Trevor Baker, tying the game at 8-8.

The defensive brawl continued into the fourth quarter until Vina scored on a 40-yard rushing touchdown by Baker, making the score 16-8 late in the fourth quarter.

After the Cougars scored with under two minutes to play, the Red Devils came up with a big stop on the two-point conversion by Branson Vick and Tristen Farr to avoid them trying the game.

The Vina Red Devils beat the Waterloo Cougars 16-14.

Vina travels to Addison next. The Red Bay Tigers picked up their first win of the season beating the Tharptown Wildcats 50-0.
