ACCU holds back-to-school bash

The Russellville branch of Alabama Central Credit Union held a back-to-school bash July 31 with giveaways, a character meet and greet and a Smashed Burgers food truck. The bank also promoted its Kids Central Account.

“It went great!” said branch manager Hillary Hall. “We had a large turnout for Smashed and the characters. We were able to raise cash and school supplies for children in the county and city schools in Franklin County.”

Hall said donations amounted to $266, in addition to school supplies.

“I took the $266 and went to Walmart and purchased a ton of supplies,” she continued. “We delivered 584 items of school supplies to the Franklin County Department of Human Resources.”

Hall expressed her gratitude for how the event turned out.

“We are thankful for everyone who attended the event, Russellville City Schools for allowing us to use a school bus and the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce for help from the Junior Leaders. We look forward to more events in the future. So many of our children in the community need assistance, and we hope this small community event will help them achieve their school goals.”
