Billy Ray “Woody” Cowens

Billy Ray “Woody” Cowens, 35, of Russellville, passed away May 31 at Lakeland Community Hospital in Haleyville.

Billy was born February 4, 1989, in Russellville. He was a member of Winston County Iron Angels Bike Club and loved to paint cars and do body work. Billy never met a stranger and was always eager to help anyone in need. He was a hard-working family man and a loving husband and father.

Visitation will be held June 5 from noon to 2 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, with a service at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery in Phil Campbell. Bro. Jeff Whitten will officiate.

Billy is survived by his wife, Tonieka Cowens; sons, Austin Anderson and Tyler Cowens; stepsons, Jaycen Wheeler, Rhen Wheeler and Logan Wheeler; stepdaughter, Livion Weaver; parents, Bart and Tina Storie; brothers, Josh (Kendra) Bunch and Dustin Storie; aunt and uncle, Mary and John Anderson; cousins, Matthew Anderson, Jordan Anderson and Colton (Loren) Russell; aunt, Tonya (William) Brown; and uncle, Hershell Ray Durham.

He was preceded in death by his father, Randy Cowens; grandparents, Fayrene Durham and Floyd Ray Durham; and step grandmother, Darlene Durham.
