Belgreen runs wild over Waterloo

The Belgreen Bulldogs scored 19 runs on 14 hits to beat the Waterloo Cougars 19-11 last week.

Belgreen led 2-1 after the first inning and scored nine runs in the third to take an 11-1 lead. The Bulldogs couldn’t rest easy, however, as the Cougars scored in the top of the fifth and exploded for nine more runs in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 11-11.

Belgreen responded, scoring eight runs in the bottom half of the inning to finally secure the win.

The Bulldogs sent seven pitchers to the mound with Alex Guidry getting the win pitching the last inning and a third and striking out four.

Guidry also got the job done at the plate with three hits, four RBI and two runs.

Ty Hamilton had two hits, three RBI and two runs. Eli Mitchell had three hits, a RBI and scored twice. Landon Cox had two hits, a RBI and scored four times. Rush Berryman had a hit and two RBI.

Cox also had three hits, including a triple, in a 10-4 loss to Sheffield.

Tharptown 7, Lexington 6

The Tharptown Wildcats scored seven runs on 13 hits to beat the Lexington Golden Bears 7-6 and split an area series. The Wildcats lost the first game of the series 15-3.

Dylan Dolley led the way at the plate for the Wildcats with three hits, including two doubles, two RBI and scored a run.

Maddox Cochran had three hits, a RBI and scored twice.

Dawson Higgins got the win, allowing one earned run on three hits. He struck out eight.
