Vina picks up softball wins

The Vina Red Devils picked up a couple of opening week wins in softball last week, beating Sheffield and Lynn.

Vine beat the Sheffield Bulldogs 11-9. The Red Devils went up on the Bulldogs 3-0 after the first inning and led 8-2 after three innings of play.

AC Chandler, Braxtyn Quinn and Kenzie Elrod had big games at the plate.

Chandler had three hits, scored four runs and had two RBI. Quinn had three hits and scored three runs. Elrod had three hits, two RBI and scored a run.

Vine led Lynn 3-0 through four innings and held off a late Bear comeback attempt.

Lana Bell had two hits and two RBI.

AC Chandler, Harleigh Ridge and Kari Harper all scored runs for the Red Devils.
