Attempted traffic stop leads to high-speed vehicle pursuit, wreck

The Russellville Police Department reported in a Facebook post that RPD officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop Feb. 7 of a vehicle displaying a switched tag. The driver refused to stop.

A vehicle pursuit was initiated that reached speeds of nearly 100 MPH on Highway 56 and Highway 60. The vehicle eventually turned down a dead-end road and wrecked through a fence before becoming disabled. Both driver and passenger then attempted to flee on foot.

After a short foot pursuit, one suspect was captured and taken into custody. With the assistance of several deputies from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, they were able to set up a perimeter, locate the other suspect and take him into custody.

The FCSO lists Horace Borden, 25, of Russellville, booking number 5187, booking date Feb. 7, 12:40 p.m., with charges of Possession of controlled substance, Possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute and conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime.

The FCSO lists Brandon Clark, 28, of Russellville, booking number 254, booking date Feb. 7, 1:07 p.m., with the charge of Possession of a controlled substance.

All suspects should be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
