Red Bay football team dominates Tharptown

The Red Bay Tigers dominated the Tharptown Wildcats 52-24 during Friday’s Homecoming game.

The Tigers amassed 361 total yards with 352 coming on the ground. Five players scored touchdowns for Red Bay on Homecoming night.

Red Bay scored 24 unanswered points to open the game.

The Tigers first score came on a six-yard run by Keeton Lanphear and a Braden Tabbs two-point conversion run giving Red Bay an 8-0 lead.

Red Bay’s defense got in on the scoring action when Tabbs returned a Tharptown fumble 42 yards for a touchdown. Gage Edgmon completed a two-point conversion pass to Lanphear to give the Tigers a 16-0 lead.

Red Bay added their third score of the first quarter on an eight-yard run by Jaxon Vinson. Edgmon completed the two-point conversion pass to Jeremiah Thorne to give the Tigers a 24-0 lead.

Tharptown got on the board late in the first quarter on a 30-yard pass from Jackson Clement to Dawson Higgins to make the score 24-8.

After Tharptown scored, Red Bay scored 28 more unanswered points.

Lanphear got the scoring surge started on a 35-yard touchdown run followed by a 22-yard run to give Red Bay a 40-8 lead at halftime.

In the third quarter, Thorne and Colton Patterson scored on short runs of five-yards and one-yard respectively to give the Tigers a 52-8 lead.

Tharptown added two late fourth quarter scores on passes by Clement. The first was a 63-yard strike to Malachi Minor and the last an 18-yard pass to Higgins.

Red Bay will host Falkville on Friday night. Tharptown is off this week.

In other games Friday night, Vina lost their Homecoming game to Phillips 14-0. Phil Campbell lost to Lauderdale County 46-0.
