Back to school brings back memories

In Russellville and across the county, schools are now back in session. There’s something about this time of year. When I find myself in a store with office or school supplies, especially around this time, there’s a certain nostalgia it inspires.

And there’s a more than reasonable chance I’ll wind up leaving with a new notebook or two (or three), more pens and folders and maybe even a box of crayons, along with whatever else strikes my fancy along the way. Sparkly pencil case, you say? Sign me up.
We can all use a little more sparkle or other bits of whimsy in our lives.

A few years ago, I bought a “monster” pencil case for one of my best friend’s kids, and it had a special feature where the entire case could be unzipped until it was no longer a case.

You kind of have to see it to really get the effect, but it’s a pretty fun feature.
What are your best memories of shopping for back-to-school supplies? The possibilities these days are certainly more than I can count.

I have even seen scented glue sticks. I wonder if they still make scratch and sniff stickers. That was always one of my favorites.
Before we know it, fall will truly be here, but for now, summer’s hanging on a little bit longer. Let’s make the most of it and all the opportunities that provides.
