RPL summer reading program event encourages healthy living

Shirley Jimenez, the Franklin County Extension’s expanded food and nutrition program educator, gave a presentation about healthy living for the July 14 Russellville Public Library summer reading program event. The children participated in a hands-on exercise to help them learn healthy food categories while putting each food group in its place on the plate. They also made friendship pockets out of pita bread and their choice of fillings (turkey, ham, lettuce, cheese, strawberries and pineapple).
