County baseball teams face local schools

Belgreen 19, Cherokee 1

A nine-run first inning sparked a 19-1 Belgreen win over Cherokee this past week.

The Bulldogs added two more in the second inning and eight in the fifth inning and pounded out 12 hits.

Landon Cox and Caige Smith had three hits and two runs each. Emi Jimenez scored twice and knocked in two runs. Aaden March had two RBIs. Peyton Turbyfill scored three times, and Will King scored twice.

Smith and Cox combined for five innings on the mound, allowing one run on three hits and striking out nine.

Phil Campbell 8, Hamilton 4

With the game tied 4-4 at the end of five innings, Phil Campbell broke it open with two runs each in the sixth and seventh inning to beat the Hamilton Aggies 8-4.

Cole Pace hit a two-run home run. Jacob Barnwell had a two-RBI game. Bryant Anthony and Hunter Baker scored two runs each.

Robby Robinson went three and one-third innings on the mound, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out five. Koltin Hester pitched the other three and two-thirds innings and got the win for the Bobcats, allowing one run on one hit and striking out two.

Phil Campbell 6, Lawrence County 2

The Bobcats scored two runs in the first inning and three in the second to get a 6-2 win over Lawrence County.

Robinson hit his second home run of the season, a two-run shot, to lift the Bobcats. Anthony and Baker both doubled, and Kyle Pace had two hits.

Itawamba 6, Phil Campbell 5

Phil Campbell lost in walk-off fashion to Itawamba 6-5. The Bobcats got doubles from Anthony, Baker, Hester and Robinson in the game.

Sage Raper led the way at the plate with three hits. Baker had two hits, including his double. Robinson had two hits and two RBIs and scored a run.

Belmont 8, Red Bay 5

Ty Reynolds had three hits, including a triple, two RBIs and a run in an 8-5 Red Bay loss to Belmont.

Carson McGee had a two-RBI game as well.

B.P. Blair doubled and scored twice. Jeremiah Thorne also scored twice for the Tigers.
