Russellville Elementary students celebrate Board of Education Appreciation Month

“We appreciate each one of you. We couldn’t do our jobs without your support, so thank you for all that you do.”

Such were the sentiments shared by Russellville Elementary School Principal Tiffany Warhurst during the Jan. 30 meeting of the Russellville City Schools Board of Education. On behalf of the students and faculty of Russellville City Schools, in recognition of the annual Board of Education Appreciation Month, Warhurst and several RES students, attended the meeting to express their gratitude for the board members.

The students presented the board members with small gifts, including student-created tiger drawings; gave a short presentation and brought caramel cake to share, baked by fifth-grader Bayleigh Warhurst.

Students also shared presentations about each board member, highlighting fun facts like what each board member wanted to be when they grew up, their favorite colors, favorite school subjects, favorite teachers and more.

In other business, the Board approved the following expenses:

  • Contractor services for RHS Project Phase I.
  • Monthly bond payment to the City of Russellville.
  • Monthly payment for SROs to the City of Russellville.
  • Concrete work at the baseball field.
  • Recoating of the gym floor at RMS.
  • HVAC units for the school system.
  • Ceiling tile work at the RHS Auditorium.

The board also approved:

  • Contract with SANOA Consulting from Jan. 1 through Dec. 31.
  • Coaching supplements for 2022-2023.
  • Addie’s Flip, Tip & Tap to use the RHS Auditorium for its annual dance recital May 20, with practice May 19.
