Phil Campbell claims victory in B-Junior Boys division

Hayston Scott hit four three-pointers to help the Phil Campbell Bobcats B-Junior boys to a 47-31 Franklin County championship win over Belgreen Saturday.

Scott led all scorers with 18 points, hitting a three-pointer in the first and second quarters before dropping two in the third quarter. He was also four-for-four from the free throw line.

Phil Campbell doubled up the Bulldogs in the first quarter, 14-7, and extended that lead to 28-10 at halftime.

Bailey Nix followed Scott with eight points. Austin Elliott and Trae Pounders scored six points each. Brady Williams scored three points, and Brayden Gann, Jace Wingo and Bradley Hamby scored two points each.

Andrew Enriquez led Belgreen with 14 points, followed by Colton Ashton with 13 points. Miguel Cordoba scored three points, and Rush Berryman had one point.

The Bobcats advanced to the finals with a thrilling 36-33 win over Red Bay the day before.

Phil Campbell jumped out to a 25-13 halftime lead and held off a third-quarter surge by the Tigers, who outscored the Bobcats 14-6 to cut the lead to 31-27.

Phil Campbell’s Elliott led all scorers with 16 points. Pounders, Williams and Scott scored seven points each.

Brodie Cason led Red Bay with 11 points. He was followed by Jaxson Swann with nine points, Konner Nichols with seven points, Jayce Jackson with four points and Austin Orrick with two points.

Belgreen advanced to the finals with a 30-25 win over Tharptown. Ashton led Belgreen with nine points, and he was followed by Berryman with eight points, Enriquez with six points, Cordoba with three points, Brayden Messer with two points and Ty Hamilton with two points.

Conner Vincent led Tharptown with 12 points. He was followed by Shooter Motes with six points. Cody McClusky, Austin Chaney and Jackson Cooper chipped in two points each. Caleb Dolley added one point.

Red Bay beat Vina in the quarterfinals 43-17. Landon Petree, Jaxson Swann, Conner Nichols and Jayce Jackson all scored eight points each for Red Bay, while Vina was led by Jamison Brown with eight points.
