Franklin County EMA receives grants for upgrades

“A few months ago, we put in for a Homeland Security grant to upgrade our emergency operations center,” explained FC EMA Director Mary Glass in the Nov. 14 work session meeting of the Franklin County Commission. She reported the grant has been approved, and the EMA is in the process of getting all the paperwork finalized and sent back.

Glass said the grant is for approximately $32,400.

“We also put in for a RC&D grant for all the volunteer fire departments to receive an infrared camera,” added Glass, who noted the cameras were all issued the previous Tuesday evening. She explained the infrared cameras are important safety upgrades that will enable responders to look for hotspots while fighting fires.

That grant, she said, was for $8,400.
