Russellville celebrates freedom at Jam on Sloss Lake Monday

Russellville’s getting ready for food, fun and fireworks for the Fourth at its annual Jam on Sloss Lake.

“We’re looking forward to great music and food, a tractor show and a car show by the Cotton Flat Cruisers,” explained Russellville Mayor David Grissom, “and we’re really excited to have our new City of Russellville Splash pad open for our kids. All of this will be followed by an amazing fireworks display.”

Grissom praised “all the help, planning and organization by Councilman Gary Cummings. He does an excellent job for the City of Russellville each year on this event.”

Cummings said he encourages everyone to come out and enjoy the festivities as a community.

“We’re going to have a whole day of good, family-oriented fun,” Cummings said. “We started this event in 2008, and this is the 14th year,” – but the 13th event, since the city skipped 2020 because of the coronavirus.

Cummings said the Jam on Sloss Lake was an instant hit when it first began. “It caught on right off the bat, and every year there’s always a lot of people,” he said.
