RHS students take part in state FBLA competition

Russellville High School members of the Future Business Leaders of America participated in the state competition in Mobile April 20-21. More than 4,500 high school students attended this conference and competed in more than 30 business areas.

Accompanied by teacher/sponsor Dr. AnnaKay Holland, Avary Miller competed in Business Publications, while Kaitlyn Speck and Peyton Parrish competed in Business Communications, with Parrish placing third.

“One of the three business classes I have taken with Dr. Holland, Business Publications, dealt a lot with communications, so competing in that area seemed like a good fit for me,” explained Parrish. “I’m excited to get the chance to compete at the state level and happy to have placed among the top three.”

She, along with Holland, received recognition at the April Russellville City Schools Board of Education meeting. Parrish will now be among students to represent Alabama at the National FBLA Conference in Chicago in June.

“I’m so proud of all of my students, and Peyton’s performance is to be commended,” said Holland.

“I appreciate Dr. Holland for all of the extra time she puts in and the love that she has for her students,” said Parrish.
