Bulldogs, Bobcats win area series

The Belgreen and Phil Campbell baseball teams both won area series early this past week.

Belgreen beat Phillips in come-from-behind wins 15-11 and 9-8. Phil Campbell easily swept Danville 9-1 and 8-0.

BELGREEN

Belgreen had to battle from behind with a five-run seventh inning to beat Phillips 15-11.

Caige Smith had a three-RBI triple and scored twice. Will King had two hits and two RBIs and scored a run.

Landon Cox had two hits and two RBIs and scored two runs. Chandler Welch had two hits and two RBIs and scored a run.

Belgreen had to battle from behind again to beat Phillips 9-8. This time the Bulldogs had to rely on two runs on back-to-back basesloaded walks to win in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The Bulldogs got doubles from Jackson Galliano, Smith and Brodie Vandiver.

PHIL CAMPBELL

Phil Campbell got excellent pitching and big days at the plate to easily sweep the Danville Hawks.

Junior Cam Habada pitched a complete game in the 9-1 win over Danville. Habada allowed four hits and struck out 12.

Kyle Pace hit a three-run home run in the game to lead the Bobcats. Sage Raper went three-for-four with a double and three RBIs. Bryant Anthony had two hits and two RBIs and scored a run.

The Bobcats got three home runs in the 8-0 shutout of Danville.

Mason Swinney hit a three-run shot. Bryant Hyde had a two-run homer. Anthony had a solo shot.

Cole Pace pitched the complete game shutout, allowing two hits and striking out 13.
