Bobcat boys bats pound Panthers

The Phil Campbell Bobcats exploded for 14 runs in a fifth inning onslaught to beat the Mars Hill Panthers 18-8.  The big inning helped Phil Campbell rebound from an 11-5 loss to Mars Hill earlier in the week.

The game was scoreless through two and half innings until the bottom of the third, when Mason Swinney singled in Bryant Anthony to take a 1-0 lead.

Mars Hill pounded out six runs in the top of the fourth to take a 6-1 lead over the Bobcats.

Panther pitching woes helped the Bobcats recover in the bottom of the fourth. Hunter Baker and Jacob Barnwell scored on basesloaded walks, and Cody Quinn scored a passed ball to help cut the Mars Hill lead to 6-4.

Mars Hill gained some of the runs back in the top of the fifth inning, scoring two to extend the lead to 8-4.

Noah Raper got Phil Campbell’s big inning, going two-RBI single scoring Cole Pace and Baker to cut the lead to 8-6.

The Bobcats took the lead on a hardhit single by Sage Raper scoring Barnwell, Noah Raper and Anthony, making the score 9-8.

Phil Campbell kept adding to their lead on singles by Kyle Pace, Swinney and Barnwell.

The Bobcats also lost to Wilson 3-1 Saturday. In the loss, Habada and Barnwell were two for three at the plate. Anthony scored Phil Campbell’s lone run.
